Let's dive to look at some tips for the same:

  • Vacuum often

Daily activities and the environment around us is accountable for bringing in dust and dirt. You might not notice the dust until it's accumulated. Then you will have to switch to strong cleaners and strong methods. It's better to avoid that and clean your sofa regularly by vacuuming it at least once per week. It's easy!

  • Dust regularly

If you do not own a vacuum cleaner, it is totally okay. Take a brush with soft bristles and dust it all out from the surface of your upholstered furniture on a daily basis. Do not forget to wipe the base of your sofa, the floor under it, the arms and armchairs of your sofa.

  • Squeegees

If you have a pet who sheds a lot of hair, then you know the struggle. Roll squeegees daily on your upholstery to get rid of all the pet hair. A soft bristled brush will also do the job.

  • Water+Vinegar+lemon drops

Take water and vinegar in equal quantities and juice of 1 lemon. Pour these in a spray and shake well. Spray it on your sofa at least once in a month. This solution is good for removing stains as well as getting rid of nasty odours to keep it fresh.

  • Treat stains immediately

As soon as you notice a spill, grab a clean cloth to blot up the extra liquid. Depending on the type of stain, you can use various ingredients like vinegar, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, cornstarch etc. to treat the stain. The longer it stays, the more it settles in the fibres. Be quick!

  • Baking soda

You can do this once every month or every 2 months. Sprinkle baking soda on your couch and leave it for a night. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean it the next morning. This removes oil stains and weird smells from your sofa.
